The AIR Team is an educational program developed by the Ramon Foundation in partnership with the Israeli Air Force, with the goal of encouraging and supporting young women to pursue and successfully complete the Israeli Air Force Flight Course.

Today, the percentage of women who successfully complete the Flight Course, compared with men, remains particularly low, standing at approximately 3–5%.

The program aims to build girls’ sense of self efficacy and help them see the Flight Course as a dream that is both possible and achievable. It focuses on developing skills that contribute to success in aircrew roles, creating and strengthening the support networks around each participant, and exposing girls to the fields of aviation and flight.

The program is a unique municipal initiative for middle and high school girls, designed to nurture and develop the next generation of highly qualified candidates for aircrew positions. The program spans five years, during which participants acquire essential skills and capabilities to help them succeed in the selection processes and in their future military service.

In the 2025–26 academic year, two local authorities were selected to participate in the program, representing the social diversity of Israeli society. Within each participating municipality, the Ramon Foundation and the Israeli Air Force conduct a professional selection process to choose a cohort of 25 participants from each municipality. Throughout the program, participants undergo a personal and group development process while also becoming part of a nationwide network of participants. In the academic year, two additional municipalities are expected to join the program.

Throughout the program, ongoing evaluation is conducted to assess its impact and measure progress toward its goals, using real-world data from the Israeli Air Force and feedback from the participants. Given the program’s depth and five-year duration, it is designed to help change the percentage of women who successfully complete the Flight Course, a figure that has remained persistently low.

The program was created to change this reality and empower a generation of courageous, capable young women who will go on to become leaders in Israeli society.
